The best beaches in Panama on the Caribbean side
San Blas (Guna Yala)
The crown jewels: hundreds of tiny coral islands with white sand, turquoise shallows and no mass tourism, governed autonomously by the Guna people. Day trips run from Panama City (typically 2.5–3 hours by 4×4 plus a boat), but an overnight in a Guna-run island cabin is the real experience. Bring cash and reef-safe sunscreen; leave drones and expectations of luxury behind.
Bocas del Toro
- Starfish Beach (Isla Colón): calm, shallow, and famous for the starfish resting on the seabed — look, don’t touch.
