Panama’s biggest party
Carnival (Carnaval) is Panama’s largest celebration, held over the four days before Ash Wednesday — 14–17 February in 2026. Cities and towns erupt with music, water, parades and colour.
Where it happens
- Las Tablas in the Azuero Peninsula hosts the most famous Carnival, with its legendary “calle arriba vs. calle abajo” rivalry.
- Panama City stages big parades along the Cinta Costera.
- Beach towns fill up as the whole country takes to the coast.
Tips for enjoying it
Expect “culecos” (water trucks spraying the crowd), so dress to get wet; stay hydrated; and book accommodation months ahead. Roads are busy — plan travel carefully.
