Christmas bazaars and artisan markets pop up across the city and the interior, with handmade gifts, seasonal food and live music. Churches hold concerts and posadas, and many towns organize their own light-switch-on nights in early December.
Nochebuena: the Panamanian Christmas Eve
The heart of Christmas here is Nochebuena on December 24: a late family dinner with tamales, arroz con guandú, ham and ron ponche, gifts at midnight and fireworks lighting up whole neighborhoods. Many restaurants also offer special Christmas Eve menus for those who prefer to dine out.
